Hi, I’m
Ahmed Khalifa.

I’m a Staff Software Engineer at Airbnb with over a decade of experience building software.

I enjoy tackling complex technical challenges, understanding how systems work under the hood, and building tools that make engineers more productive. I'm particularly passionate about developer infrastructure, AI-powered automation, and turning ambitious ideas into practical, high-impact solutions.

Outside of engineering, I enjoy traveling and exploring new places with my family and watching football (especially Arsenal). I’m always up for a conversation about travel, technology, or a good football match.

Making engineering easier

I’m drawn to infrastructure and tools that remove friction from engineers’ daily work. Good tooling helps people spend more time solving problems and less time fighting their environment.

Understanding the layers beneath

I enjoy digging into how systems work under the hood. Understanding the underlying mechanisms helps me reason about trade-offs, diagnose problems, and make better technical decisions.

Putting AI to practical and safe use

I’m interested in AI-powered automation that makes a meaningful difference in engineering workflows. I care about understanding its limits, protecting sensitive data, and keeping people in control as promising ideas become tools they can use and trust.
